These are designed to be usable independantly but they can also be connected to each other using the included bones.  They will keep the bloks lined up and will provide additional support to each other.  The bones are removable so you can keep the ends of a run clean with a flat surface instead of an exposed cleat.  
 
Magnets are encased in the base so they will never fall out or need to be glued in.
